Advanced Medical Diagnostics, founded by Marc J. Miller, MD, evolved from Dr. Miller's dedication to the practice of radiology. As Chief of Radiology in a small hospital, Dr. Miller became aware of the many challenges facing small and mid-sized hospitals. His hospital persevered while local physicians became competitors and neighboring hospitals and regional academic centers drew patients away from the facility. Administration felt the squeeze of declining reimbursements. The medical staff realized their reputation was in decline and they were losing significant revenue by failing to capture many advanced imaging applications. Conventional wisdom suggested that the hospital simply could not afford new imaging equipment because of other pressing financial concerns. Conventional wisdom was wrong.

Dr. Miller felt an obligation to help the hospital overcome these financial assaults that were degrading the quality of medical care in the community. Working with administration, equipment vendors, and outside consultants, he developed a plan to improve the quality of medical care in their hospital and markedly improve the financial performance of the health care system. The goal was to strenghen, improve, and expand the level of service within the radiology department. Radiology is a department that is highly visible and highly lucrative, can stimulate growth in other departments, and greatly impacts the quality of care by improving diagnosis. After implementing his plan, the radiology department in this 42 bed hospital realized a six figure increase in monthly revenue and paid for its new imaging equipment in less than one year. Today, revenue from the radiology department funds the purchase of equipment in other departments.

After assisting hospital administrators and physicians from dozens of hospitals across the country over the last four years, Dr. Miller became acutely aware that these problems are widespread. As a practicing physician, he formed Advanced Medical Diagnostics to assemble the resources necessary to serve small hospitals across the country. AMD provides a comprehensive service that combines clinical and financial consulting, technologist training, and risk-free utilization of next generation imaging equipment. AMD works within hospitals, physician offices, or through independent imaging centers to grow medical imaging.
