Q: What is AMD and how did it start?
A: Advanced Medical Diagnostics was founded by Marc J. Miller, MD. As Chief of Radiology in a Midwestern hospital and an expert in imaging technology, Dr. Miller has voluntarily assisted dozens of hospital administrators across the country over the last four years. As a result of this experience, Dr. Miller became aware of the many challenges facing small and mid-sized hospitals and that these problems are widespread. In response, Dr. Miller developed a comprehensive plan to elevate the quality of medical care and markedly improve the financial performance of small and mid-size hospitals through application of advanced medical imaging. As a practicing physician, he formed Advanced Medical Diagnostics to assemble the resources necessary to serve hospitals across the country. AMD provides an array of services that combines risk-free utilization of the latest imaging equipment, clinical education, financial consulting, and technologist training. AMD works within hospitals, physician offices, or through independent imaging centers to grow medical imaging. Our mission is to enable our partners to improve patient care while greatly enhancing immediate and long term financial performance.
Q: Is AMD an equipment vendor or a distributor?
A: No, AMD is not an equipment vendor, dealer, or distributor. We are an independent company offering comprehensive services that improve the quality of diagnostic imaging and financial performance for hospitals and physician groups. Since one of our services is to provide the latest imaging equipment for our customers’ full time utilization, AMD purchases imaging equipment. We consider the provision of state-of-the-art imaging equipment as one key component of our comprehensive plan to improve our customer’s clinical and financial performance.
Q: What services does AMD offer?
A: AMD offers a broad range of services including imaging assessment and market analysis, imaging equipment placement and utilization, technologist training, physician education, legal consultation, hospital joint ventures, and imaging center creation.
Q: Where is AMD located?
A: AMD offers its services nationwide. We maintain offices in California, Wisconsin, Virginia, and Texas.
Q: What imaging equipment can you provide?
A: AMD provides access to the most advanced imaging equipment available, including MR, CT, PET, Angiography Suites, and Ultrasound. AMD is not tied to any specific vendor, but has strong relationships with many vendors, allowing us to provide you with the equipment that meets your needs. Dr. Miller, an expert in imaging technology, will work with your staff to assess your equipment needs and budgetary restrictions and recommend the best alternatives. AMD leverages its strong relationships with various equipment vendors and acquires the equipment at prices not available to individual hospitals and GPOs.
Q: Can you really provide full-time access to a new, fixed MR or CT scanner at a price that is less than or equal to most part-time mobile imaging providers?
A: Yes. AMD provides full time access to new, fully featured MR or CT scanners at a cost that is equal to or less than most mobile imaging contracts. Even better, AMD provides extensive technologist training, medical marketing services, physician education, and consulting services for no additional charge.
Q: Isn’t this too good to be true?
A: We hear that a lot. No, it’s really not. AMD’s services were established by a practicing radiologist to serve small and mid-sized hospitals. When Dr. Miller established the company, the overriding question he addressed was “what would I need in order to grow medical imaging and improve financial performance in my own hospital?” AMD became the answer to that question. While we’re sensitive to our customers’ operating costs, AMD has created an array of services designed to drive significant financial growth while improving efficiency. While nothing of value is ever free, AMD’s program is virtually risk free to our hospital customers.
Q: Can AMD help us create a diagnostic imaging center?
A: Yes, absolutely. Our team includes individuals with experience in medical construction, imaging market assessment, medical marketing, medical law, and many other areas essential to creating an imaging center.
Q: What do you mean by physician education?
A: Educating your referring physicians about new advances in imaging is the best way to both improve the quality of medical care and increase the appropriate utilization of diagnostic imaging studies. AMD is unique in offering a combined program of direct lectures to physician staff, focused group sessions directed at specialist physicians, detailed educational newsletters, weekly clinical imaging supplements, as well as CD ROMs and Webcasts covering the latest topics in medical imaging.
Q: What do you mean by marketing services?
A: AMD provides its strategic partners with extensive medical marketing services. These services include visits to the office of every physician within your area of competition, brochures and newsletters to physicians and patients, as well as extensive ongoing physician education. While we’re completely autonomous, we can also work with your existing marketing team to develop specific marketing programs to ensure that physicians and patients appreciate your imaging capabilities and know where to find you.
Q: Do you offer radiology reading services?
A: No, not directly at this time. However, AMD has strong relationships with several large radiology groups located in the United States. AMD can facilitate communications between your facility and our associates if needed.
Q: Is Dr. Miller a practicing physician?
